* The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill (new to me author – OH MY GOD what an amazing book! This one is a definite keeper – worth the awards it has won and then some)

This month I read 19 books, bringing my YTD total up to 87 books so far. I have to say though that this is the first time in a long while that I can say I read a book that was stunningly brilliant – each word perfectly chosen by the author. In The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill, the characters – particularily that of Aminata Diallo (the main character) took my breath away. This is an amazing story. Beautifully told and heartwrenching. Perfect. Unforgettable. If you click on the link you should be directed to the Harper Collins Canada website where you can browse inside and see a bit of what I’m talking about.

This weekend

I helped build a backyard play set. OY! I am sending a stink eye look to the idiots who packed up the boxes and either sent broken items, wrong items or didn’t package some of the things we needed.

It all turned out okay though :) The kids have an awesome play area and the grown ups had awesome weather (finally) to put the thing together in. lolbefore after

There’s a sand box in there too – behind the X and O game and the climbing wall type ladder.

Happy Mother’s Day

All I ever wanted to be when I grow up was a mom. I can’t see that ever happening but I’m a kick ass auntie and nanny (gotta look for the positives, yes?).

Anyways – this video cracks me up every time I watch it. So far it hasn’t got old for me *g*…
